SURVEY OF PEACE CORPS CHILE VOLUNTEERS
One-half a century after joining the Peace Corps and serving in Chile during 1968-70, we asked 55 volunteers in our group about their service and what it had meant to them. Nearly half of the group responded to the survey. About 58% remained in the same general field (fisheries or forestry) that they were involved with in Chile and about 58% felt that serving in the Peace Corps caused them to focus more on careers in the helping professions. A strong majority (77%) felt that Peace Corps service helped them in their careers in the US. The charts below summarize the survey responses from our group:
