Allan Brookstone worked as a teacher and researcher at the Dept of Fisheries Technology, Universidad Catolica del Norte, Antofagasta, Chile.  Allan writes that he “conducted: Incomplete studies of Concholepas concholepas (Loco) ecology.  After returning to the US, I studied 3 years for my M.S. at the University of Pacific Marine Station, Dillon Beach, Marin County, CA, and completed all 30 units coursework and half the thesis on 3 species of snail intertidal oyster predators in Tomales Bay.  I dropped out to pursue studies in bilingual education at Sonoma State College and began a limited artistic career light opera singing and carpentry and construction. The Peace Corps was --and still is--one of the high points emotionally and developmentally in my life. No question it had a LARGE influence. The human need to belong, and to have others look up to you and to need you was central to this.  So training was big and even the subsequent reunions, have helped in this way. Perhaps the most influential of experience in Chile was living for two years immersed mostly contentedly in a socialistic environment, so distinct from my upbringing. Regarding my carrer. It’s easier to say "What career?", looking back at this point. Peace Corps certainly didn't help me much in my many years as a California licensed General Building Contractor.  I don't know that I could say I've had much of a career in anything--yet :)”
