Marie Samaha was sent to Chile as part of the Fisheries Program that her husband was involved in. She states that she “picked up different jobs in Santiago while Rick was working at IFOP (Instituto de Fomento Pesquero). Marie began a career in the education field when she returned to the US. “In some ways - I did some teaching in PC and continued to teach when I was back in the States. In some ways - teaching, a helping profession, was my focus. I think the PC opened my eyes to the diversity of life in the world. Marie believes that Peace Corps service helped her in her career: “I got at least one job because my employer knew I had been in the Peace Corps.
